CURRICULUM DRIVERS

To be inquisitive

PSHE promotes inquisitiveness through the teaching of diverse beliefs, values and attitudes that individuals and societies hold. We want our children to be inquisitive with high aspirations, a belief in themselves and realise that anything is possible if they put their mind to it. PSHE helps children to acquire British values and attitudes which are necessary if they are to make sense of their experiences within school and life itself, value themselves, respect others, appreciate differences and diversity and feel confident and informed as a British citizen.

To be challenged

In an ever–changing world, it is important that children are aware, to an appropriate level, of different factors which will affect their world and that they learn how to deal with these so that they have good mental health and well-being.

To be resilient

PSHE will help pupils develop themselves, their understanding of the world, and their ability to communicate their feelings.

Kingsfold Primary School use the scheme of the leading provider of relationships, health, wellbeing, and drugs education (SCARF Coram Life Education) to teach Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). 'SCARF' represents our values for children of Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship and provides a whole-school approach to building these essential foundations – crucial for children to achieve their best, academically and socially. It meets all DfE requirements for statutory Relationships and Health Education, and is mapped to the PSHE Association programmes of study. Please view the documents below to gain a more in-depth overview of how PSHE and RSE is delivered at our school.

In Spring 2 we had 'Key Charity' in school delivering PSHE sessions to our Year 6 pupils over a course of 6 weeks...

“I found the PSHE lessons good because I learnt a lot of things on how to keep a good friendship like not to have ‘sticky arguments.’ I also learnt how to stay safe online.”

“I found it interesting. I understand a lot about different feelings now.”

“I thought the PSHE lessons were good in teaching about relationships / friendships.”
